"Foundations, a wall and a roof - that's all architecture is. Yet some buildings excite me when I enter them because they're not a cell, a dead box, but a flow of experiences (...) But a lot of shanty buildings are going up - and agreed architecture. My hope is that in 20 years people might be sick of it - and there will be a question of what we have done with the young architects (...) Once you've destroyed a generation of architects you're finished - and if you destroy a man, if you disillusion him in the first 10 years of practice, he'll never recover." - John Tulloch for Building Design, 1973

A Christmas card designed by Andy and Bobby Needham, the 18-year-old girl and her brother, who have painted the latest White Nancy. It's curious that the Christmas card is meant to present Bollington in its entirety, but nothing is where it actually sits and there is a public square with lots of people and the tree in the foreground.

Quote: "The concave features of Nottingham Contemporary can be seen as gigantic columns represented as negatives, enabling the facade to offer two views, from a distance, the complexity of the exterior form is tamed by the pattern of vertical lines, while up close, the fragility of the lace ornamentation requires a finely honed reading."
